Fourth Annual Give It Up For Gulu 5K and 1 Mile Doggie Dash

On September 24th, our annual 5K event will take place at Rockford Park in Wilmington, Delaware.  This event is the major fundraiser for St. Catherine of Siena Nursery School.  The past several months are filled with planning the event, from seeking both financial and gift sponsors to ordering t-shirts and everything else in between.  It's been amazing to see how many local and national businesses are willing to help.

This year, we will be honored by the presence of U.S. Senator Christopher Coons who will make the opening remarks.  He visited Gulu, Uganda and knows first hand the people we are helping.  The registrations and donations are coming in and we are so grateful for each and every one!

On August 29th, the children of St. Catherine's held a run/walk event of their very own to be in solidarity with us.  This was their way to show all who run/walk for them that they are very happy for this opportunity.

Thanks for all who have donated, participated, organized, volunteered and prayed for our endeavors to give hope to the children in Anaka.

Most Have All That They Need, Some Have All That They Want...

Who can give up something they want to help the children in St. Catherine of Siena School?

You can!  We are preparing for our fourth annual Give It Up For Gulu 5K and 1 Mile Doggie Dash, September 24th, just two months away.  The proceeds of this event will go toward purchasing a school van to get our children to and from school safely and bring others from far distances to attend our school.

Sign up today at  http://bit.ly/24OtC1O and receive a free raffle to win two 2017 Firefly Music Festival passes.  Check out our great sponsors who help make this event possible and to whom we are very grateful!

Be a part of this wonderful event by joining us on September 24th by participating in either the 5K or 1 Mile Doggie Dash (walk with or w/out dogs); volunteer to help at the 5K; share our cause with family/friends; consider sponsoring a child's education or make a donation.

Giving up just a little with help improve the lives of these children!

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Piggies....

Twelve new additions in six months.  The first offspring were born to SCS Empowerment Piggery,  increasing our herd to 24.  The flooring to the pig pen will soon be paved in concrete, a necessity for healthy animals.   These gifts from God and the families of St. Catherine of Siena Religious Education Program in Wilmington, Delaware, will soon be improving the livelihood of the poor!

Runners, Take Your Marks, Get Ready, Get Set, Go!

The Fourth Annual Give It Up For Gulu 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Doggie Dash is set for September 24th at the beautiful Rockford Park in Wilmington, Delaware.  Runners/walkers will compete for our fabulous prizes donated by local and national businesses.  Dogs are invited this year to run or walk with their owner.  Our pets can help the children too!

Sponsorship is available in many levels, check out our Sponsorship Letter and see if one suits you, your family or your business.  Your pet can also be a sponsor by submitting a photo of your doggie along with a profile and he/she will be posted on our webpage and Facebook page.  Sign up using Active or on race webpage .

Earlier this month....

Our fundraising goal for this year is to provide a school van for the children of St. Catherine of Siena Nursery School.  We began this effort with a guest bartending night at the BBC Tavern and Grill and shopping event at Ten Thousand Villages Store in Greenville, Delaware on May 12th.  Everyone enjoyed good food, drinks served by the best bartenders in town and shopped nearby for unique gifts from around the world.

Meet Margarete, one of the creators of "Gulu Beads"

Margarete, is a member of the Ruganga Lakica Women's Group who creates the beautiful handcrafted paper jewelry known as "Gulu Beads".  These beads will be represented for the women at the Wilmington Flower Market  (May 5 - 7th) which has benefited Delaware's children since 1921.  The Flower Market not only sells flowers and plants, but hosts a wide variety of fun for the entire family.  The proceeds from the sale of these beads will not only help the children of the women's group, but Delaware's children too!

Margarete, with her young daughter, demonstrates the paper used to make these beads.
